Vietnam Travel began in 2008 with a simple frustration: too many trips to Vietnam were being planned from templates that treated Hanoi, Hoi An, and the Mekong Delta as interchangeable stops on a checklist. Our founders — guides themselves — believed a trip built around a traveler's actual pace and interests would always beat a fixed package, even if it took more effort to arrange.
That belief hasn't changed as we've grown. What has changed is our ability to deliver on it — a larger team of regional specialists, a vetted vehicle fleet, and relationships with local partners built over more than a decade.
Vietnam Travel started as a two-person desk in Hanoi's Old Quarter, arranging trips for backpackers one itinerary at a time.
As demand grew for longer trips connecting north, center, and south, we built our first end-to-end overland itineraries and hired dedicated regional guides.
We formalized as a fully licensed international tour operator, expanding our vehicle fleet and formal guide training program.
When international travel paused, we used the time to rebuild our itineraries around smaller groups, more flexible cancellation terms, and stronger local partnerships.
We formalized our responsible travel practices — from community-based homestays to a no-captive-wildlife policy across every itinerary.
We're still based in the same city, still tailoring every trip individually, and still run by people who'd rather fix a route in person than manage it from a spreadsheet.
Every itinerary is designed and delivered by people based in Vietnam, not outsourced to a call center abroad.
Community-based stays, fair pay for guides and drivers, and no captive-wildlife activities — see our full Responsible Travel commitments.
Plans change — weather, health, curiosity. We adjust itineraries mid-trip, not just at the booking stage.
With travelers who return for a second trip, and with local partners we've worked with for over a decade.
Every trip we plan adds to the same story — let's start planning yours.
